Concrete Repair Starts With Preparing the Opening

Concrete Repair Starts With Preparing the Opening

Before new concrete becomes the visible surface, the opening beneath it needs attention. This stage of J&L Underground Construction's concrete work shows an exposed aggregate area between existing pavement edges.

Look below the finish

The support beneath a concrete section matters to the replacement as a whole. The condition of the opening, the material beneath the slab, and the surrounding pavement all need to be considered as the work is planned.

This is also the stage when the boundaries of the replacement become clear. Rather than treating the pour as an isolated task, the repair needs to fit the pavement that will remain around it.

Preparation shapes the next stage

Once concrete is placed, much of the underlying work is hidden. Taking the opening seriously helps keep the project focused on more than the appearance of the finished surface.
